“Girls its high time you take good care of each other. With the high rate of child pregnancies in Kenya, you have to say no, focus on education, and be there for your sister. Its so unfortunate that Kenya has the third-highest teen pregnancy rate at 82 births per 1,000 births,” she noted.

The sanitary towel distribution is a personal initiative of the Women Rep aspirant to improve girls performance in schools within the county. She said she will make it a routine to make sure girls from different wards receive pads.

While receiving the donation Mama Churchill said the initiative by Hon Zaituna will empower the girl child which will lead to better academic performance.

“This initiative by our aspiring Women Rep will empower the girls to focus on their dreams and in the long run perform better in class,” she said. “This move will also reduce the number of girls missing school,” she added.

Hon Zaituna Zainabu Ibrahim is running on a UDM ticket under the Azimio La Umoja umbrella. Her focus as the incoming Women Rep is to promote the interests of women, youth, and people with disabilities by coming up with policies that are tailor made to their specific needs.
